CYA Youth National Championship 2007

This year the Canadian Youth Championship (18 years old and younger) was held in Hamilton, Ontario. Zig Zag Yacht Club had four racers there: The three Fergusons, Maddie, Chris, and Celeste and Vanessa Stewart. Chris Ferguson with skip, Chris Bradley came third in the 29er class and Maddie and Celeste Ferguson won the prestigious award, the Fogh Marine Sportmanship award. Well done.

The name, Zig Zag Yacht Club, is well recognized in the sailing venues across Canada because of our racers.

Maddie and Celeste Ferguson win coveted CYA Sportmanship Award

The Canadian Yachting Association is pleased to inform you of this year's winners of the Fogh Marine Sportsmanship Trophy from the CYA Youth National
Sailing Championship:
Maddie and Celeste Ferguson, 29er sister-team from Zig Zag Yacht Club in Manitoba.

While most sailors executed sportsmanlike behaviours at the event, the panel of Coaches - with representation from all attending provinces - selected the girls for going beyond the call. Especially on-shore, the girls became
renowned for assisting any competitor in need of boat parts for repair or replacement. They placed all other sailors' needs ahead or in-line with their own.

Sincerely,

Sarah Moscrop
CYA Racing Coordinator
