ZZYC Closed Club Championship 2007

Our ZZYC Closed Regatta, 2007 saw three races in light winds, but at least there was some wind! It was not a large regatta but there were many different boat classes which made it fun. There were Optis, 420s, two 29ers, an Olympic class 49er and a Hobie Cat. The trophies were given out at the Family Barbeque later in the day.

Jack Wiebe and Steve Penman (blue spin) trying to catch instructors Caitie

Lawrence and Leigh MacKenzie (red spin). At least, they are stealing what little wind there is from the girls. They didn't catch them though.

You can see the 49er (white spin) ahead and making for the leeward mark.

Pretty exciting having a hobie cat in the ZZYC Closed. Too bad there wasn't more wind.

The two opti racers, Andrew Giguere and Matthew Scott were neck and neck on this race.

Corrin Cup (Open event - all ages):

Gord Parke and Tristan Bruning sailing a 49er (Scroll down and see these two boys sailing the 49er on a windy day at the end of the season)

Parke Student Cup (Sailors from the Learn to Sail program):

Grace MacEwan and her sister, Sarah MacEwan, sailing a 420. Actually, the two girls just about won the Open Class as well. Well sailed, girls.

Ferguson Family Optimist Cup (Optimist fleet):

Andrew Giguere - Andrew sailed in the Youth LOWISA regatta in Kenora as well this year. Glad to see you participating so much, Andrew and well sailed.

Well done, everyone who participated in this event.

This is the Olympic class, 49er. There is only one other 49er between Toronto and Vancouver - so  watch for it on the lake next summer.
