Job Title: Head Sailing Instructor
Program: Sailing Program
Minimum Age: 17 years old as of June 30, 2012
Purpose: To
provide a fun, safe and learning environment that allows for the development of
sailing skills up to and including Bronze V and to provide leadership for the
instructors delivering the sailing program.
Tasks:
- Attendance at
the Commodores Reception, Family BBQ, ZZYC Championship Race, June and
August boat unpacking and storage days.
- Provide weekly
class list and oversee weekly swim test.
- Review and
approve daily lesson plan and weekly outline as developed by Learn to Sail
Instructor team.
- Develop and
mentor Learn to Sail Instructor Team
- Weekly review of
Learn to sail Instructor organized binder.
- Daily assignment
of Learn to Sail Program tasks to sailing Instructor team: (Place and
return marker buoys for each day, daily preparation of instructor boats,
instructor boat and dock/shore duty, morning and afternoon dock help
duty).
- Provide sailing
instruction from dock/shore and instructor boat,
- Daily/Weekly
completion of: attendance Check form, Sailors history sheet and student
evaluations,
- Record
information with regards to parent concerns/comments and report to Sailing
Director,
- Monitor, report
and replace supplies,
- Daily approval
of boat/equipment storage
- Other duties as
assigned.
Experience/Prerequisites:
- Minimum one year
instructing at White Sail Level
- Pleasure Craft
Operator Card (PCOC)
- CYA Bronze Sail
Level V Certificate
- Emergency First
Aid Award (St. John’s Ambulance course) (current)
- Coach Boat
Safety Course
- Respect In Sport
course
- Coaching
Fundamental Course
- Coaching Clinic
Course for Bronze Sail
